Purpose of the EDIW researcher toolkit
This proposed framework intends to assist researchers in their consideration of EDIW throughout the entire process.
EDIW considerations should be reflected throughout the plan of an entire research project and not simply be referenced as an EDI statement or within the ‘relevant’ section of an application. Within every research project, EDIW should be considered as part of the research and its impacts, and operationally by the project delivery team. This EDIW toolkit uses a framework to assist researchers in their consideration of EDIW throughout the entire research process.
Each research project is a vehicle for funders to achieve their own EDIW objectives and for the Faculty to put equity, diversity and inclusion at the heart of what we do. Researchers should demonstrate that their approach to EDIW respects and responds to funder and University/Faculty expectations.
Scenarios to promote discussions of EDIW in research
We have added two very different, totally fictitious, scenarios. You may find it useful to use these scenarios alongside the toolkit when discussing EDIW in research with your team or students. These can be used, alongside the framework template below, to identify areas that need attention in your own research.
