Last weekend, staff from the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences rallied together to raise over £7,000 for the Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity by taking part in two major fundraising events.

Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

On Saturday, June 29, a team of 15 embarked on the demanding Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. This rigorous 24-mile trek requires participants to summit the three highest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales: Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m), and Ingleborough (723m) within just 12 hours.

The day started with clear, dry weather, but conditions quickly worsened, bringing rain, cold temperatures and poor visibility that tested the team's resolve. Despite the harsh weather, and thanks to the overwhelming support from colleagues, families, and friends, the team collectively raised more than £5,400 for their efforts - an incredible achievement!

Anfield Abseil

On the same day, another group from the Faculty’s Education Directorate took on a different kind of challenge by abseiling down Liverpool Football Club’s iconic Anfield stadium. The team of eight descended 100 feet from the main stand, an exhilarating experience and raised a fantastic £1,800.

These events are part of the Faculty’s 2024 charity fundraising campaign, aiming to raise £10,000 for the Bereavement Suite Appeal at Liverpool Women’s Hospital. This appeal is dedicated to transforming clinical rooms into comforting, home-like spaces for families facing pregnancy loss or stillbirth.

The Faculty extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated and supported these events. Your generosity and encouragement have made a significant impact on this crucial cause.
