Patient and public involvement

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences is committed to embedding meaningful patient and public involvement (PPI) in all its research activities. Involving patients and the public in health and life sciences research is crucial, as our work has the potential to shape the lives of millions, both locally and globally.

PPI in health and social care research is research being carried out ‘with’ or ‘by’ members of the public, rather than ‘to’, ‘about’ or ‘for’ them as defined by the National Institute for Health and Social Care Research (NIHR).

PPI e-learning training programme

PPI e-learning is an online training programme of 30-minute ‘bitesize’ modules for researchers, research staff, and public contributors within health and social care research. Produced by patients and public members, it focuses on helping participants appreciate the value and impact of PPI.
