Transnational education partners
Our impact on education extends further than the work we do in Liverpool. We also have numerous transnational education partnerships that allow our staff and students to take part in exchanges that enhance the skills and experience they gain at Liverpool. These initiatives also help students improve their employability along the way.
With nearly 8,000 international students on campus in Liverpool we have a truly global student community.
Our biggest transnational success story is our longstanding partnership with Xi’an Jiaotong University in China. We’ve been working with our fellow research-intensive university since 1980. And since then, we’ve worked together to launch Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), now a well-established, modern university based in China.
As part of the partnership, students from both the UK and China are offered fantastic opportunities for studying abroad. Students coming from China can take part in the innovative 2+2 programme, where they study for 2 years at each university to gain an international advantage. Meanwhile, students from Liverpool can spend a year studying in China to enhance their learning and gain new experiences.
Our international student community extends even further with over 10,000 online students from over 160 countries. Our innovative online master's courses provide flexible study options for those who want to pursue a postgraduate qualification.
We also have a number of other well-established partnerships with high-quality educational institutions across the world. Many of our students choose to study abroad as part of their course, and we welcome a significant number of students at all levels and from all corners of the world to study in Liverpool each year.
There are also plenty of opportunities for postgraduate student exchanges with our education partners such as McMaster University in Canada, University of Georgia, USA and the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience in India.
