Xi’an Jiaotong University

One of our most established and important strategic partnerships is the one we enjoy with our partner university in China, Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU). It is a collaboration built on strength.

Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) is a leading research-intensive university across the disciplines of: science, engineering, medicine, economics, management, humanities, law, philosophy and art. XJTU has 27 schools and nine colleges for undergraduates, and three affiliated hospitals.

The partnership strengthened significantly in 2006, when Liverpool and XJTU established Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University, a modern and innovative university and the Liverpool Confucius Institute in 2009.

There are many research collaborations between the University of Liverpool and XJTU across areas including:

  • Heritage
  • Business and management
  • Global mental health
  • Electrical engineering.

The University of Liverpool is a member of the Heritage Alliance of the New Silk Road, a global network, led by XJTU. Academics from XJTU have also participated in Liverpool's Virtual Visiting Fellowships for Heritage programme.
