We are developing a new partnership with Vanderbilt University. Vanderbilt is a prestigious, highly ranked private university, known for high quality research and scholarship.
Based in Nashville, Tennessee there is a natural musical affinity between the two universities and the city of Liverpool. Vanderbuilt Unviersity is located on a major inland waterway and hosts a port of historical and current significance on the Cumberland/Mississippi River.
Vanderbilt is renowned for its Music School and is also strong in the fields of Social Sciences as well as the Arts and Humanities. It’s medical and nursing schools are highly regarded in the USA.
Our research collaboration with Vanderbilt aims to be broad, encompassing Life Sciences, Arts and Humanities as well as Maritime and Artificial Intelligence.

Priorities for the first round of funding include:

- Energy, climate and ports
- Cybersecurity and generative AI
- Expanding our research collaborations in the US with universities studying North American slavery, British slavery and Abolition.
