National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan

Our partnership with National Tsing Hua University began over 10 years ago in 2013 and is focussed on collaboration with the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

National Tsing Hua University is one of the premier universities in East Asia and is recogised for producing future leaders including Nobel laureates in Physics and Chemistry. It is a comprehensive research university offering a full range of degree programmes in science, technology, engineering, humanities, social sciences, and management.

The partnership with National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), started in 2013 initially focused on engineering. The partnership has since developed into a major relationship for University of Liverpool, particularly the Faculty of Science and Engineering. 

The partnership is underpined by a dual PhD programme. Students can start in the UK or Taiwan and spend a minimum of one year at each institution.

Each year there is an annual workshop to promote and connect researchers, focused on multidisciplinary challenges. Research students also take part in the workshop.

To date 86 PhD students have participated in the programme. NTHU also provide an annual bespoke 1-week training programme on nuclear reactor operation and radiation detection for Liverpool PhD students.
