Supporting equine health
Be a part of our ambitious plans to transform equine health and education at Leahurst.
The Philip Leverhulme Equine Hospital is an internationally renowned facility for equine clinical care and research excellence. Based at Leahurst, it is one of the largest university equine hospitals in the UK caring for ponies to performance horses from the North West of England, North Wales and beyond.
Our ambitions are to improve the care experiences of our patients and their owners, along with providing our clinicians and students with a state-of-the-art environment they need to continue to provide world-leading equine healthcare. Our investments into our Leahurst campus have positioned us as a national leader, but we have now outgrown our facilities. We’re seeking to build a new Equine Hospital fit for the 21st century to enable us to continue providing world-leading standards in equine healthcare.
Our ambitious plans include a £7 million vision to redevelop our orthopaedic surgery space (1000 sqm plot) and establish a site-defining large indoor arena.
Your support will;
- Ensure we’re able to continue to provide world-leading care for our patients and owners and remain a pioneering centre for excellence in equine care
- Build two new operating theatres so we can treat all emergency cases and create capacity for elective surgeries
- Enable us to minimise the hospital stay for patients
- Ensure the highest standards of biosecurity and hygiene to protect surgical patients
- Increase the space available for examinations and standing surgeries
- Build a new site-defining indoor arena where assessments of patients can take place 365 days a year
- Provide a state-of-the-art educational space for our students to experience patient assessments and teaching.
