Celebrating the power of giving this Thank You Day

This Thank You Day, we want to thank our alumni and friends for their continuous generosity in helping us create a long-lasting impact on students’ lives. From donations to the Student Fund to volunteering, your kindness to Liverpool students is changing lives ensuring that no student is left behind.

This year you have supported over 400 students facing unexpected financial hardship, welcomed two scholars to Liverpool through the Asylum Seeker scholarship, supported eight students’ clubs and societies and supported 5,104 students from low-income backgrounds with the Liverpool Bursary.

Hear from some of the students who have been impacted by your support:

“The scholarship has helped me find myself, so far, I’ve achieved full grades in some of my coursework assessments. I have also taken up volunteering with a local homeless charity. As an ex-homeless student, this work is very meaningful to me, and I hope to make a difference in someone’s life just like your generosity did to me. “- Anonymous, Asylum Seeker Scholarship Recipient

“Reflecting on my journey, I am deeply grateful for the support and opportunities I have received. The bursary and the assistance from the Widening Participation team have transformed my life in ways I never thought possible. Before receiving the bursary, life as an asylum seeker was filled with uncertainty and hardship. Living in a hostel, I often felt like a fugitive, constantly worried about my future. My mental health suffered as a result, and I struggled to see a positive path forward. The Asylum Seeker Bursary was a turning point in my life. It not only provided the financial means to pursue higher education but also offered accommodation, which gave me a stable environment to focus on my studies. This support alleviated many of the stresses and challenges I faced daily, allowing me to redirect my energy towards achieving my academic goals.” – Anonymous Asylum Seeker Bursary Recipient

“For the Flight Simulation Group (FSG) it has been a vital lifeline, which without your support we wouldn’t be able to operate such a unique student activity; no other UK university has anything quite like it. We would also like to thank the supporters for their greater impact across the university, so many amazing projects university wide that would have stopped in their tracks if it was not for your support.” – Alumni and Friends Fund grant recipients, Flight Simulation Group - the group received funding to revitalise the JetSim, a Jetstream 41 turboprop flight simulator.

Your collective generosity plays a vital part in supporting Liverpool students through scholarships, hardship funding, and other initiatives enabling them to make the most if their university experience. Thank you.
