The University of Liverpool supporter community is truly special.
As well as providing hardship grants, bursaries and scholarships for our student community, one of the ways in which you have been supporting students is through the Alumni and Friends Fund grant. The grant is open to students, staff and societies and supports projects which enhance the student experience.
Thanks to your support the Chamber Choir were able to go on its first European Tour, the BME Medics Society hosted the National Northwest Health Inequalities Conference and the Flight Simulation Group were able to convert a life-size non-functional BAE Systems Nimrod flight simulator into a study-level Boeing 737 commercial aircraft simulator for use by students across campus.
David, a member of the Flight Simulation Group, said: “A little effort can go a long way especially if it presents you with the opportunity to achieve greater things. The Alumni and Friends Fund grant will support us in continuing to strive towards our end goal and we would encourage you to do the same. If you have a passion which you cannot fund yourself but will improve the university community then the Alumni and Friends Fund grant is one of the many places to ask for support.”
This summer the grant also sponsored 12 fully-funded student places for a Law study trip to the Hague for students who would otherwise miss out. Hannah Lewis, Internationalisation Manager in the School of Law and Social Justice said: “Your support has allowed us to proceed with the study trip and ensure that it is fully funded. This made the trip accessible to students who statistically are less likely to benefit from an international experience. These students had the opportunity to understand first-hand the functioning of the institutions which are the source of many of the legal judgements they study in their degree programme, adding depth of understanding that they cannot gain from classroom teaching alone”.
The generosity and kindness of people like you is helping societies to welcome new members, providing students with once in a lifetime opportunities and making campus a place where all students, no matter their background, can pursue their dreams, expand their knowledge and gain essential skills to help them after university. Make sure to look out for our annual donor impact report in the coming weeks to hear more about how your kindness is making a difference.
The University community is grateful for your support. Please see the videos below to hear from some of the students who have benefitted from your generosity.
