Student Crisis Support Fund supports over 200 students
The Student Crisis Support Fund was launched as part of the wider COVID-19 Emergency Response Campaign to address the immediate needs faced by our student community. So far, the Fund has supported more than 200 students who faced significant unexpected financial hardship as a result of the pandemic.

With a little help from our Alumni & Friends
The Area of Greatest Need fund provides support across all our fundraising priorities and allows us to respond to the most urgent needs of our student and university community. It also grants support to student clubs and societies, as well as academic departments through an annual application process. Thanks to the support of alumni and friends worldwide, we were able to support eight projects this year.

Name a Seat Stories Series
The Name a Seat campaign was launched to celebrate the introduction of the new Yoko Ono Lennon Centre on campus. Since then, many of our supporters have shared the stories behind their gift.
Lord Leverhulme’s Charitable Trust visit new Equine Isolation Unit
Anthony Hannay, Trustee of Lord Leverhulme’s Charitable Trust, made a socially-distanced visit in September to the newly-completed Equine Isolation Unit at the Philip Leverhulme Equine Hospital in Leahurst, ahead of its first use by veterinary science students and equine patients at the start of the academic term.
New partnership to provide scholarships for disadvantaged Black students
The University of Liverpool has partnered with the Cowrie Scholarship Foundation (CSF) to help improve access to higher education for Black British students. Launched in June, the CSF aims to fund at least 100 disadvantaged Black British students through leading UK universities over the next decade.

As part of the University of Liverpool’s COVID-19 Emergency Response Campaign, the University’s community of staff, students, alumni and friends have collectively risen to the challenge and quickly adapted their daily lives to support the ongoing challenges presented by the pandemic. COVID-19 researcher and University of Liverpool alumna, Dr Catherine Abou-Zaid Gordon EdD MSC shares her remarkable story and more about the projects she is supporting.
Bringing the World to Liverpool – India
The latest event in the Bringing the World to Liverpool series has an emphasis on graduates working in India. Over 120 current students, graduates and offer holders signed up to listen to the four graduate panel members, who were able to share their insights on their career since graduating from the University of Liverpool.
A Gift to EUROPAC - Remembering Frank & John Grady
Since the loss of their husband and father Frank to chronic pancreatitis in 1998, the Grady family have given in memory donations to support pancreatic research of the chronic condition. Frank’s daughter Sian shares how hereditary pancreatitis has affected, and continues to affect, her family to varying degrees with some family members' lives dictated by the condition in every respect.
Dr Margaret Hope Alston-Garnjost's Liverpool Legacy Story
The COVID-19 Student Crisis Support Fund benefited from a £100,000 legacy gift, bequeathed by the late Mr & Mrs Bertram Alston-Garnjost. As a University of Liverpool graduate, Margaret reached remarkable heights in her career and we are incredibly proud to share her story and the lasting impact she will have on the University.
