The field class provides students with an opportunity to gain an insight into how we understand place and a real life example of the mediation of space. Planning as a discipline and profession is often about mediating between competing or conflicting interests and the city of York, with its historic character and constrained footprint, provides a perfect example of this.
During the field class we will explore different parts of the city and consider the social, economic and environmental challenges that planners encounter
