The Steve Morgan Foundation, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2021, was founded by local businessman and philanthropist, Steve Morgan CBE. The Foundation was established to support projects helping children and families, as well as people with physical or learning disabilities, the elderly, or those that are socially disadvantaged in North Wales, Merseyside and Cheshire. To date more than £300m has been committed to the Foundation's causes.
Born in Liverpool, Steve started his first construction company at the age of 21 with a loan from his father. He founded Redrow, one of the UK’s most successful housebuilders and a FTSE 250 company. Steve was Non-Executive Chairman for many years during which time Redrow built over 100,000 new homes. Steve stepped down from the Board in March 2019, though still remains a major shareholder.
He received a CBE in 2016 for Philanthropic Services via the work of the Steve Morgan Foundation following an OBE in 1992 for Services to the Construction Industry.
Since being founded in 2001, the Steve Morgan Foundation has made 2,264 grants, totalling £136.6m – helping three million people in the process.
Liam Eaglestone, chief executive of the Steve Morgan Foundation, said: “One of our main priorities is to improve the life chances of children and young people.
“The programme run by IntoUniversity fits this perfectly in raising educational attainment among children in deprived areas.
“We already work very closely with Everton in the Community and the LFC Foundation and this was the perfect opportunity to bring them together with us, the University of Liverpool and IntoUniversity.”
