Everton in the Community

The sporting charity is one of two new partners to join the unique collaboration to help young people on Merseyside achieve their educational aspirations.

Since it was founded in 1988, Everton in the Community has been one of the UK’s top sporting charities and firmly established on the world stage of community sports development. As the Blues' official charity, it is considered one of the Premier League’s leading community schemes due to the quality and reach of its various programmes.

Through its 240+ dedicated full-time staff and 160+ volunteers, the charity offers more than 40 programmes covering a range of social issues including health, employability, anti-social behaviour, crime, education, dementia, poverty, youth engagement, youth justice and disability.

Operating seven days a week, 365 days a year, Everton in the Community supports the most vulnerable and underprivileged members of local communities, and the charity aims to instil confidence in others by creating life-changing opportunities. Thousands of people have already benefited from the magnificent work they do.

The charity's work is vast and includes providing routes into education, training and employment, steering young people away from crime and anti-social behaviour and engaging children and adults, regardless of ability, in physical activity. In addition to helping individuals, Everton in the Community helps other charitable groups improve the lives of local people.

A Societal Value Report the club commissioned in 2019 revealed between 2016 and 2019, Everton in the Community’s societal value was calculated at £222.3million - which equates to an average of £55.6million per year.

Sue Gregory, CEO at Everton in the Community, said: “We’re delighted to be joining forces with this fantastic group of organisations on what is an important and much-needed project in our region.

“The campaign fits perfectly into our own lifelong learning strategy, and by working with LFC Foundation, Steve Morgan Foundation, the University of Liverpool and IntoUniversity, we can really increase our collective impact on the education inequality gap.

“We’re very much looking forward to getting started on this exciting partnership and seeing the real social contribution we can make together.”
