Full or partial payment of tuition fees with a student loan

Tuition fee loans for undergraduate study

Most UK undergraduate students don't have to pay for tuition fees up front and can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan to pay the fees.

If the Student Loans Company are paying your tuition fees to the University in full, you do not need to make any payment arrangements. If they are paying only a partial amount, however, then you are responsible for making arrangements to pay the balance.

The Student Loans Company will usually notify the University directly of any full or partial payments that they will be making on behalf of students. Occasionally, this method of notification fails, in which case the University may require you to supply a copy of your Financial Notification directly to the University.

How we can help you

  • Have you successfully applied for a Tuition Fee Loan but been informed you have fees outstanding? Please email feesenq@liverpool.ac.uk immediately, so we can investigate the matter on your behalf. Your fees will remain outstanding until this is resolved so it's very important that you get in touch with us straight away so we can help you.
  • Was your student finance previously approved for a different University before you accepted an offer from Liverpool? Please email feesenq@liverpool.ac.uk with your Student ID Number and Student Support Number for Student Finance. This can be found in your notification of entitlement letter with your payment schedule. Once we have these details, we can submit a request on your behalf for your student finance application to be transferred.

Full or partial payment of tuition fees with a scholarship

Many of the University's scholarships come in the form of a tuition fee discount, while a small number of scholarships offer a fee waiver which means your tuition fees will be paid in full.

If you're awarded a scholarship and receive a tuition fee discount for all or part of your tuition fees, please send this information to feesenq@liverpool.ac.uk.

If your scholarship does not cover the full amount of your tuition fees, then you are responsible for making arrangements to pay the balance.
