This event, organised by the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology (Dr Zoe Alker and Dr Andrew Davies, History), features three highly-distinguished visiting speakers: Laura Bates (author of Everyday Sexism and Guardian contributor), Dr Vanita Sundaram (University of York, co-author of a pioneering report on ‘lad cultures’ in higher education) and Stuart Taylor (Liverpool John Moores University, co-author of an important new study of sexual violence and attitudes towards consent among students). Our aim is to raise awareness of campus-based sexism, but also importantly to engage with students to discover ways to tackle it.
