Due to recent legislation changes in countries across the world, more people than ever before can now get married. Hosted in collaboration with the Discourses of Marriage Research Group, this two-day seminar encourages scholarly discussion of how marriage is conceptualised, normalised, defined, rejected, adapted, and debated through language.

The two-day seminar will be an opportunity to establish the state-of-the-art for linguistic research on marriage, marriage equality, divorce, etc, by bringing together researches interested in this field. It is designed to spark discussion about discourses of marriage by acting as a networking event, and we already have publishers interested in an edited collection of papers.

During both days, refreshments will be available and lunch will be served. We will be organising an evening meal, which all delegates are welcome (encouraged!) to attend, but this will not be included in the seminar fee.

For more information please contact Dr Georgina Turner.

Please note that this seminar runs for two days, 14 and 15 September. Please check our Eventbrite registration page for further details.
