An exploration of the interactions between Sulla and the Italian communities, however, also draws attention to the wider hinterland of that military engagement.
The central aim of this paper is to explore the evidence for Sulla’s engagement with the political dynamics across Italy during and after the Social War. The wider question of Sulla's approach to the enfranchisement of the Allies and their inclusion into the citizen body will also be discussed in this connection.
Speaker: Dr Federico Santangelo (Newcastle University)
