About us

We have a dedicated team of clinical, technical and administrative staff who provide a comprehensive and high-quality equine veterinary referral service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The clinical service is headed by a team of highly qualified senior equine clinicians whose skills are recognised nationally and internationally.

The clinic sees over 2,000 equine cases per year ranging from routine, elective referrals for the investigation of lameness and head-shaking to emergency referrals for colic surgery. If you are a veterinary surgeon you can visit our referral pages to find out how to refer to us.

The Equine Hospital is part of the University of Liverpool and in addition to providing a clinical service, has a key role in the teaching of undergraduate and post-graduate students and in conducting high-quality clinical research. We also work closely with a number of equine charities, who have supported the work that we do for many years, providing them with our clinical and teaching expertise.
