On site laboratory

On site laboratory facilities at the equine hospital enable rapid and accurate results from an array of diagnostic tests. We can process bloods along with synovial samples (joint taps) for suspected joint infections and peritoneal taps (belly taps) for suspected surgical colic cases. The speed and accuracy of the diagnosis and treatment are essential for ensuring successful outcomes.

The University provides full histopathology and post mortem services where this is necessary.

We also house specialist staff and labs for parasite monitoring with fast results for faecal egg worm counts (FEC) and tape worm blood tests. This enables us to tailor your worming regimes and potentially decrease the cost of worming products and risk of drug resistance.
