LGBTQIA+ equality
The University is committed to supporting all members of our LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning/Queer, Intersex, Agender/Asexual, Plus) community. We are proactively engaged in marking key LGBTQIA+ dates and events, providing training and resources on LGBTQIA+ topics, and providing spaces for LGBTQIA+ people to meet.
Carol Costello, Director of People and Services, talks about how we support our LGBTQIA+ staff and students and how we raise awareness of LGBTQIA+ matters.
Events and projects
We engage in a wide variety of events and activities to mark LGBTQIA+ dates. These include LGBT History Month, Trans Day of Visibility, Pride Month, and Liverpool Pride. Find out more about these events.
Find out about the history of LGBTQIA+ people at the University by visiting our online timeline and resource page. Originally developed as a physical exhibition, you can track how LGBTQIA+ issues have been experienced by staff and students at the University.

Why pronouns matter
Take a small extra step in making Liverpool an inclusive and accepting place to work and study. To do this, we are inviting colleagues to include their pronouns in their email signatures, Zoom names, Canvas and social media profiles, whether or not you personally identify as trans or non-binary.
