About
I am currently working as a researcher on two projects: a) NERC funded #gravelbeach project with the aim of understanding gravel barrier systems and improving our predictive capability to support more sustainable coastal management and reduce coastal zone vulnerability to climate change. I am quantifying gravel migration rates by integrating the geomorphology and stratigraphy of gravel barriers coupled with innovative luminescence dating techniques applied to sediments and cobbles. b) Olduvai Gorge project, which aims at reconstructing past climate and environmental changes in eastern Africa, a key region for understanding human evolution and dispersal.
I was awarded my PhD in the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences at Aberystwyth University. My thesis focused on understanding the climate and environmental change in the Chew Bahir Lake, eastern Africa, by refining and extending the age range for the Chew Bahir Lake core (~300 m). I have also undertaken research in reconstructing past environments and geochronology during my masters studies in the USA, and Iran.
