Through its research centres, which work in association with organisations such as the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), and influence environmental opinion and policy the School of Environmental Sciences fosters a global approach to research.
Conducting research that has an impact on society is an ethos enshrined in our strategic priorities and we specialise in societally relevant research. We drive our Interdisciplinary and Impact Agenda by (co-) leading University Centres and Institutes bringing together researchers from across disciplines and the world.
Liverpool Institute for Sustainable Coasts and Oceans
LISCO combines the coastal, marine and maritime expertise of Liverpool John Moores University, the National Oceanography Centre and the University of Liverpool.

The Innovatory
The Innovatory has been assisting local businesses to enhance their capacity to innovate since 2012. Through funding 67 PhD projects, 15 Masters and numerous internships and industrial dissertation projects we have helped to increase jobs, and inward investment.
