Rebecca Jayne Philipson
Motherhood in contemporary British crime fiction.
Rebecca Philipson is an author from the north of England. She writes boundary pushing crime fiction and her debut novel was pre-empted by Penguin Random House in 2024. Rebecca is a graduate of the UEA Creative Writing program and is reading for a Creative Writing PhD at Liverpool. Her research investigates mother-blame in contemporary crime fiction by drawing on feminist and motherhood theory to examine the representation of mothers in current crime narratives. The outcome of her PhD will be a critically informed creative work exploring and deconstructing the culpable mother character.
