Eleanor McAdam
Representations of embodied AI in science fiction literature
Eleanor McAdam is a Creative Writing PhD student at the University of Liverpool. Their research concerns representations of Artificial Intelligence in science fiction literature, with a specific focus on the fictionalisation of coding languages, embodiment and the female body, and philosophies on consciousness and the soul. They spoke at the Liverpool Literary Festival 2024 about competition winning story ‘The Switch’, and their Language Evolves competition winning story ‘Breach’ has upcoming publication in Interzone 302. They are one of the organisers for the Current Research in Speculative Fiction (CRSF) Conference and Editor for the School of the Arts Literary Magazine 2025-2026.
