Dr Mary Chapman is the William Noble Fellow for 2024-27. Her current research focuses on medical women and periodical writing at the turn of the twentieth century. She teaches on a range of subjects within the English Department, including first-year modules, second-year Victorian Literature, and the Victorian Literature MA pathway.

Dr Chapman was previously the Alan F Price Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow at the University of Liverpool (2023-24), and a WRoCAH Engagement Fellow at the University of York (2023). She completed a PhD in nineteenth-century literature and the history of medicine at the University of Leeds (2021). Dr Chapman has also curated an exhibition on apothecary jars for the Harvard Centre for the History of Medicine (2018), and assisted with the development of an educational game on AHRC funded project, Mind-Boggling Medical History (2017-18).
