About
I teach on a variety of modules across the English Department, from first-year literary theory and second-year nineteenth-century modules, to third-year modules on the Gothic. I also contribute to the Victorian pathway of the MA and convene the module Victorian Murder and Other Crimes.
My particular interests are in Victorian realist prose, literature and psychology, crime fiction (especially representations of criminal psychology and psychopathy), horror, and film and television adaptation.
I would welcome PhD students who are interested in Victorian realism, Victorian or contemporary crime fiction, contemporary horror fiction, or literature in adaptation.
My academic support and feedback hours most teaching weeks of the autumn term are Mondays and Tuesday, 10-11am, in person or through Microsoft Teams. There is one exception:
-w/c 2 December: Monday, 10-11; Tuesday, 9-10
I'm also happy to meet by appointment at other times.
