Together promotes dance as a means to mental and physical wellbeing. Its Dance for Health programme demonstrates that dance can boost wellbeing, not only through the benefits of exercise but through forming new friendships and engaging in creative activity.

Maintaining health through movement

Since 2012 Together has been delivering Dance for Parkinson’s workshops. The classes encompass movement, music, and voice work and explore gentle and joyful movement to live music, through the repertory performance work of English National Ballet and independently choreographed work.

Dementia group for women

In partnership with The Brain Charity, Together deliver the Music Makes Us! programme which provides physiotherapy through dance for people living with dementia. Sessions, involving simple and engaging dance routines, are held in care homes and community settings across Merseyside.

Our Dance for Health participants were eager to come back to the studio following lockdown. It's really clear how our sessions truly support their wellbeing.

Covid-19 and beyond

COVID-19 presented challenges to in-person delivery, but 50 Moves, Men Dancing, and Dance for Parkinson’s classes were adapted and delivered via Zoom.

Together now have a hybrid studio, so participants can attend classes either via a screen or in-person. So even though restrictions have been lifted, participants have the option to join in from the studio or from the comfort of their own living room.
