Announcing the English Attainment Scholarship winners for 2022-23
Congratulations to undergraduate students Rachel Dunn and India Scott, who have been awarded the coveted English Attainment Scholarship.
The English Attainment Scholarship is awarded annually to the two Year 1 students with the best performance in Single Honours or Major (75%) English programmes, and continuing at Single Honours or Major level for Years 2 and 3. It takes the form of a full tuition fee waiver for the second and third years of study, funded by an anonymous benefactor.
“I feel immensely grateful to be awarded this scholarship, I had to read the letter again a few times before it sank in as it was such a wonderful surprise! I am really passionate about studying English, I have found the modules really engaging and am so grateful to the English department for all the support I have received. I love the learning community and am happy to be a part of it.”, commented BA English Literature student Rachel, from Wirral.
Fellow BA English Literature student India, from Leigh, said: “When I read that I had been awarded this scholarship I genuinely couldn't believe it! I am beyond grateful to receive it and give a heartfelt thank you to the benefactor! Having always loved English, this means so much to me, and I am excited to continue with my studies.”
No applications are required for the English Attainment Scholarships, as the recipients are identified by the Board of Examiners for Level One English programmes in July each year, and formally notified in writing by the Dean of School of the Arts and the Head of English.
