About

I am a Chartered Chemical Engineer with 30 years of experience in industry and academia. I'm active in the IChemE and the SCI and well-connected in the wider UK Chemical Engineering community.
I'm an acknowledged expert in optimisation and mathematical modelling – particularly for process applications and I have been involved in projects in process development, process optimisation, supply chain, biotechnology and computational modelling. Skilled in project management, lecturing, science, academic writing, e-learning and programming.
I'm a former professor and founding Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Chester. I was responsible for staff and student recruitment and meeting the accreditation requirements of the IChemE.
I've worked closely with industry to set up the first Chemical Engineering degree apprenticeships in the UK.
I enjoy leadership roles, identifying strengths in people and bringing them together to work collaboratively and efficiently. Staff development and recognition are key areas for me in building successful teams and delivering results. I pride myself in having a broad technical knowledge in engineering and science which enables me to create interdisciplinary projects focusing on general principles.
