Next Generation Nuclear Energy – the UK’s role
The Royal Academy of Engineering meeting ‘Next Generation Nuclear Energy’, was chaired by the School of Engineering’s Engineer in Residence, Richard Taylor (FREng of the National Nuclear Laboratory).
In the late 20th Century, the UK was a world leader in the development of advanced nuclear fission reactor systems, including the ‘Generation IV’ concepts.
There is an opportunity now for UK expertise in nuclear science, engineering & technology to have a significant impact.
Delegates considered developments in ‘Gen IV’ nuclear reactors and how the UK could increase its involvement in the global community.
