Dr. Benjamin SALEM has just successfully completed an R&D £40K project with British Telecom Applied Research. The project was about the research, design, and development of two proof of concept novel robotic platforms as part of BT "Openreach Access Network: Robotic Challenges". One of the robotic platforms was a modified version of a modular robot developed by Ben and his team called PetRo 4. Due to IP protection, we cannot show you a picture of the novel robots developed.

There were many challenges, not least due to the COVID-19 restrictions, but Ben and his team managed to complete the project within budget and time.

Negotiations are ongoing for a continuation of the project to deliver a prototype robot at TRL 4 - Technology basic validation in a laboratory environment, at an initial phase. There are also plans for a further and final phase to deliver a prototype robot at TRL 6 - Technology model or prototype demonstration in a relevant environment.
