The Faculty of Science and Engineering awards prizes to the students who are recognised to have made the greatest impact during their placement year and are able to reflect meaningfully on their learning experience. As part of the application, students are asked to create a video which describes their placement and the work carried out alongside highlighting how the student contributed to the employer’s environment. An employer’s endorsement is also required as written evidence of the contribution which is provided by the Manager of the student on placement. Students shortlisted are invited to give a presentation at the award ceremony where each will present their learnings and impact within the company that they were employed at.

On behalf of the faculty of Engineering, our final year student Charlotte Mears, competed against 5 contestants from different faculties and was awarded first place for her experience as a Packaging Design Technologist at Mondelez International.
