Industry Talk by Emma Lewis, Senior Mechanical Design Engineer at Eaton

On the 21st February 2019, LivWiSE and the Industrial Design Society welcomed Emma Lewis, Senior Mechanical Design Engineer from Eaton, a global technology leader in diversified power management solutions in electrical, hydraulic and mechanical power.

Having started at Eaton through a graduate opportunity, Emma enthusiastically shared her tips and guidance with the audience in terms of applying for similar graduate roles and placements.

As well as sharing her experience and insight into engineering at Eaton, Emma expressed her strong personal interest in encouraging young people into such careers. Being the UK STEM ambassador for Eaton Electrical Systems and a core member of Eaton’s EMEA WAVE team (Women Adding Value to Eaton), Emma was keen to highlight the importance of encouraging more women to peruse engineering careers.

The evening then concluded with a question and answer session and the presentation of a Certificate of Appreciation to Emma from ID Society’s President and Vice President, James Clarke and Samantha Hilton respectively. Finally, Emma welcomed the opportunity for members of the audience to speak to her one to one afterwards with refreshments and snacks.
