Industry Talk by Dr Caroline Simcock, Director of Claims, Standards and Insights at Dyson

On the 28th February 2019, the Industrial Design Society had the pleasure of welcoming Dr Caroline Simcock, the Director of Claims, Standards and Insights at the renowned Dyson. As the youngest woman to become a fellow of the Institute of Engineering Design, Caroline delivered an excellent presentation on the benefits of joining the Institution. Alongside this, she also shared her impressive achievements and experiences gained from 20 years involvement in engineering and design. Caroline finished the talk with her highly insightful and interesting ‘tips to success’, a very helpful part of the talk for any of the student designers in the room.
The talk ended with the ID Society Vice President Samantha Hilton presenting a certificate of appreciation to Caroline on behalf of the Division of Industrial Design. The Treasurer of the Society, Chris Browne, also awarded her a copy of the Institute of Engineering Design magazine from 2006 of which she was on the front cover.
The evening wouldn’t have been complete without the free pizza and drinks, as the attendees mixed with Caroline for any further questions and networking.
