Staff Awards 2018

Congratulations to Steven Bode, Senior Lecturer, Department of Civil Engineering and Industrial Design for being commended in the recent Staff Awards.

Steven Bode, Senior LecturerSteven is a devoted member of staff in the School of Engineering, ensuring students have every opportunity to improve themselves both academically and technically. One of his most notable contributions is for the ‘University of Liverpool Velocipede Team’. Steven has run this project for a number of years, consisting of a team of students designing, building, and testing a human powered vehicle, then taking it to Nevada in the USA, in order to race on the global stage. Not only does this project teach engineering students valuable hands on experience, but it also gives them a taste of working in the real world by liaising with sponsors, organising events, presentations and logistics planning. Under his guidance the Capstone projects within the School have flourished, with the Velocipede team currently holding the male and female British human powered records. He has also improved upon the current offerings of the School by setting up a new Virtual Reality suite that will be used across a wide range of disciplines in order to teach new engineering concepts and always ensures that the wellbeing of the students comes first and is considered a great mentor and role model to his students.

This award is for teams or individuals who have made the finest contribution to enhancing the student experience at the University.
This could be for activities that enhance wellbeing or develop skills for employability and deliver a distinctive University of Liverpool
student experience.
