The event was to welcome our new students, and to introduce cohorts 1 and 2 to each other and our wider community of academic and industry partners. We invited several guest speakers from both industry and academia to provide introductions to topics that the students will be covering throughout their PhDs, such as power systems and energy, and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. The event also provided opportunities for networking throughout the day and incorporated a teamwork challenge for our students.
We also hosted a social event the night before to allow our students to meet more informally before the event. Activities such as these are key to our success in cohort building and ensuring that our students feel supported as part of the community.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our guests for attending, and also our speakers for making the presentations of the day so interesting! It was also great to see cohort 1 present on their experiences as Hub students so far, and the progress they've made.
We want to wish our new students the best of luck in their PhD journey, and we’re looking forward to seeing you all again at our Spring Event!
