EDI Award

The EDI committee for the School of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science (EEECS) are pleased to announce a peer-nominated EDI student award, in recognition to outstanding student achievement/s, in promoting and/or enhancing equality, diversity, and inclusion, within the School or University.

Nominees must be part of the School of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science (EEECS). Nominations should showcase outstanding achievement/s in promoting and/or enhancing equality, diversity, and inclusion activities within the School or University - examples of examples of related EDI activities are available in the nomination form. Supporting evidence must be provided, and nominations are based on achievements in the current or recent academic year. There is no limit on how many nominations can be submitted by an individual. All entries will be reviewed by the School’s EDI selection committee.

The recipient of the award will receive an official certificate and monetary award of £50.

How to nominate

To nominate a student for the EDI Award, the nominator must submit an application using the provided template. The nomination must include:

  • Nominee’s agreement: Basic details such as the nominee’s email, programme, and year of study, along with a signed statement (200-300 words) confirming their agreement to the nomination
  • Nomination case: A description (up to 500 words) or short video (3-5 minutes) detailing the nominee's accomplishments, initiatives, and efforts that have fostered inclusivity and positive experiences. Collaboration with the nominee is encouraged
  • Endorsement: A supporting statement (200-300 words) from an academic advisor, project supervisor, or another suitable individual
  • Consent: Both the nominator and nominee must sign a consent form to allow their details to be shared in the School’s newsletters or website if the nomination is successful.

Selection process

All nominations will be evaluated by the School’s EDI selection committee, ensuring that nominees meet the required criteria. Awards will not be given if the committee determines that the submission does not meet the standards.

Submission deadline

Download and complete the application form: EDI Award - form to download (Appendix B) and submit it via email to Dr Munira Raja (mraja@liv.ac.uk) by 5pm on Monday 21 April 2025. Applications can be submitted anytime during the academic year 2024/25. Successful candidates will be notified by email in June 2025, with announcements made via the School’s newsletter and EDI webpage.
