“In striving to foster an inclusive and diverse environment, the school leads undertake actions to create equality of opportunity and encourage participation in our activities by groups who have traditionally been under-represented in our subject areas. Our outreach activities with schools showcase the wealth of exciting topics that students can study in electrical engineering, electronics and computer science, and we raise awareness of the subjects in schools from disadvantaged areas where we have successes to report in widening participation. Out staff recruitment activities feature more focused search committees to encourage applications from a diverse set of applicants. We celebrate EDI contributions from our students through yearly prizes that recognise important work undertaken on this agenda. And we have numerous examples of how we have supported inclusive and flexible working practices for a wide range of staff to account for an array of personal circumstances, supporting both their working and personal lives. The school leads are committed to executing and expanding our action plans to turn our EDI aspirations into tangible benefits for all members of our school community.”
