Amy Le Grice
"My name is Amy and I am a member of the Student Experience Team for the School of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science. When I think about Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), I think about how communicating our openness to the diversity of thoughts, experiences and perspectives within our School community plays a vital role in fostering a community where people feel free to share things – whether sharing a hello over a coffee, sharing an idea on a project with a classmate, or sharing a concern and seeking support to confront it, ensuring that people from all walks of life feel welcome to share their thoughts, ideas and perspectives is vital for helping us grow as a community of learners and help us to combat discrimination and prejudice. I believe in making our School a place where everyone feels welcome to share their thoughts and concerns and my role as a Student Experience Administrator allows me practice this belief daily in the interactions I have with staff and students of our School. Whether I am helping a student present an idea to the School in the Staff-Student Liaison Committee, offering an academic advisor advice to help their tutee report an EDI issue they have encountered on campus, or helping a student to find societies they can join to share their passions with others, ensuring staff and students of our School feel able to share things with the School and ensuring that they feel they are being listened to when they have questions to ask or concerns to raise has been a cornerstone of my approach throughout my time with the University of Liverpool. I passionately believe that ensuring staff and students feel welcome and supported to share things with us, both things we have done well and ways in which we can do better, is vital for fostering a sense of community and belonging within the School of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science that helps us all to grow together – the School is made up of people from all walks of life and I feel strongly that fostering an environment where people feel free to share ideas and learn from each other makes us stronger as a School, helping us to work together to implement positive changes to better support staff and students of the future. I hope that this statement is sufficient for you to consider me for a space as one of the School’s EDI allies, but if you require any further information please do let me know."
