University to host Energy@Liverpool event

The University is hosting an event to showcase its research, facilities and expertise in securing efficient and affordable energy.
Energy is one of the cornerstones of modern society. Whether it be providing heat and light to homes, energy for industry and transport, or the charging of smartphones, how energy is generated and delivered is key.
Energy technologies evolve in a way that will influence how future society operates, for example the development of electric transport and batteries, through to delivering the energy needed to charge them.
The University of Liverpool has long-established multidisciplinary research teams advancing knowledge and delivering applications through partnerships across multiple topics in the energy research field. Examples of areas of expertise include generation and delivery technologies, enhancing energy efficiency and reducing waste, as well as research focused on how environmental changes induced by climate change impact on energy generation.
Taking place on Monday, 22 January, from 9.30am to 4pm at the Foresight Centre, the Energy@Liverpool event will showcase the application of the University’s Energy research, key facilities and expertise available - whilst stimulating engagement and debate on potential future collaboration opportunities.
Guest speakers include Professor Robin Grimes, Chief Scientific Advisor to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).

Energy@Liverpool Schedule
The schedule for the event includes:
- Registration at 8:45am with refreshments
- Showcase in the morning will highlight key successes for Liverpool in energy and how these
present opportunities for further collaboration. Short presentations will cover:- Generation technologies,
- Digital modelling to develop future technologies,
- Prediction of climate change impacts on energy generation,
- Optimised delivery systems.
- In breakout sessions in the afternoon, key challenges will be identified across the themes of generation, delivery, efficiency, and policy. These sessions can be used as seeds for funding opportunities.
