The University of Liverpool has launched two Massive Open Online courses (MOOCs) in psychology and electrical engineering.
The courses, part of the FutureLearn initiative, owned by The Open University, are free and aim to offer high quality programmes, delivered by internationally renowned experts.

Professor Kelvin Everest, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for the Student Experience, said: “In this rapidly changing digital age, universities are looking to use new methods to make education accessible to people at all stages of their lives. "MOOCs are free courses that could help us meet the increasing demand for higher education worldwide and encourage lifelong learning.
“We are pleased to offer these courses for learners looking to expand their knowledge and potentially go on to study at degree level.”
Professor Peter Kinderman, Head of the Institute of Psychology, Health and Society, will lead ‘Beyond Nature and Nurture’, aimed at learners interested in learning how psychologists understand emotions, behaviours, and thinking patterns, and how this helps clinical psychologists make sense of their clients’ problems.
‘Electrify: An Introduction to Electrical and Electronic Engineering’ will show young people how engineering impacts everyday life.
Led by Dr Leah Ridgway from the School of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science, the course will cover areas such as digital electronics, programming, and electromechanics to give learners a taste of some of the topics a degree level course could offer.
Registration for both courses is open now and can be viewed at: https://www.futurelearn.com/partners/university-of-liverpool
