Liverpool computer scientist honoured

Professor Paul Spirakis from the University’s School of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science has been made a Fellow of the European Association for Theoretical Computer Science (EATCS).

The EATCS Fellows Programme recognises outstanding scientific achievements in the field of Theoretical Computer.

Professor Spirakis was awarded the honour for his research papers on `Random Graphs and Population Protocols, Algorithmic Game Theory’ and `Robust Parallel Distributed Computing’ both of which were described as “seminal” by the EATCS.

Professor Joe Spencer, Head of the School of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science, said: "It is a great achievement to be appointed as as a EATC Research Fellow, and we are very proud that Paul has received this prestigious position.

"It recognises the importance and value of his research and his commitment to producing leading edge research .”
