The University is inviting applications for a Chair and up to nine academic posts at the Material Innovations Factory.

The £68 million facility which ‘topped out’ last week is looking for academics across the areas of Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Engineering, Computer Science, and Biosciences, related to the broad area of materials research.

Applicants will be expected to identify and energise collaborative research activity within the new facility, by bringing together new concepts and ideas to create a step change in computer-aided materials research.

A major investment

The Material Innovation Factory, which is scheduled to be completed for the first quarter of 2017, will accommodate around 300 academic and industrial researchers and house more than £15 million of the most advanced scientific equipment within state-of-the-art laboratories.

Professor Andrew Cooper,  Academic Director of the Materials Innovation Factory, said:  “This is a major investment in materials research in Liverpool, and we are looking from excellent candidates from a range of disciplines to exploit the capital investment in the Materials Innovation Factory building and infrastructure.

We are particularly keen to attract researchers who work across discipline boundaries and who will bring fresh, new approaches to important problems in materials research.”
