In Liverpool, scientists at the National Oceanography Centre are internationally recognised for their work on tides, sea level and shelf sea physics, along with the development of new instruments and techniques for observing the oceans. National Oceanography Centre
The University of Liverpool hosts one of the sites of the UK’s National Oceanography Centre and the British Oceanographic Data Centre, situated in the Joseph Proudman Building adjacent to the School of Environmental Sciences.
