Primary and secondary controls on the properties of sandstones deposited in a range of sedimentary environments
A new study by our Department members published this month has found that Jurassic marine sandstones in the Thistle Field, North Sea, have rock quality controlled by compaction, kaolinite cement and grain size. The deeper water sandstones are finer grained, underwent more compaction and have more abundant kaolinite cement than the shallower water sandstones.
