This module provides students with invaluable practical experience in management consulting through a live project with an entrepreneurial firm in the Liverpool City Region. Working in teams, students will address a real-world business challenge faced by a local entrepreneur. Over several weeks, teams will conduct research and analysis, culminating in a presentation of their recommended solutions to the client.
The module bridges theory and practice, equipping students with the conceptual foundations and practical skills needed to manage consulting projects—whether delivered by external consultants or internal teams. Building upon core MBA concepts students will hone essential consulting skills, including project management, teamwork, data analysis, and effective communication (both oral and visual).
The specific client project will provide deeper insights into a particular industry and functional area, such as strategy, business development, or marketing, within the context of an entrepreneurial venture. Typical projects might involve market analysis, change management, or product innovation, and could include tasks like industry analysis, external and internal benchmarking, and firm-internal data analysis. This hands-on experience allows students to apply their MBA knowledge to real-world scenarios, developing critical problem-solving and consulting skills while supporting local businesses in the Liverpool City Region.
