POLITICS OF PARTICIPATION AND CIVIC SPACE

Code: POLI354

Credits: 15

Semester: Semester 1

This module explores the concept of civil society, focusing on its actors, dynamics, and impact. It begins by examining theoretical foundations of civil society and collective action, and then examines the roles, strategies, and relationships of civil society actors with funders, public institutions, and other stakeholders. Drawing on diverse examples across historical contexts, countries, and areas of activity, the module bridges theoretical perspectives with empirical cases. The module includes a compulsory placement in a civil society organization.
