This module explores how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the drug discovery landscape, enabling faster and more efficient identification of novel therapeutics. It provides an in-depth understanding of the integration of AI techniques with biological data to accelerate various stages of drug discovery, from target identification to lead optimisation and clinical trials. The module is taught through a mixture of lectures and workshops and assessed through a semester long project around designing an AI driven drug discovery pipeline where the students will write four different output reports over the course of the semester on different aspects of the pipeline. There is also a final presentation.
