Introduction to Research in Drug Discovery

The Introduction to research module aims to familiarise students with the fundamental concepts, methodologies, and practices involved in conducting research and prepare them for employment/research beyond their MSc. Students will define and plan their group research project, conduct a literature review in order to fully understand the research they will undertake in their final research project. The module will also involve exposure to speakers who will be invited from industry, funders, investors, and regulatory bodies to talk about every aspect of drug discovery.
The module will be delivered through lectures, tutorials and lab skills. Students will be assessed through a literature review , group project plan (GANNT, roles, subjects, skills defined by group), skills portfolio, generic research skills activities and blog summaries from external speakers.
